Through our offices in the islands we are able to offer a wide variety of accommodation to suit all tastes.

The hotels listed are those judged by us to be the most suitable for our clients. Other hotels are also available, especially on the islands of Boa Vista and Sal, where there are some large international resort hotels.

At the other end of the scale simple accommodation is provided actually in the Crater on the island of Fogo. Despite its simplicity, it is very popular, particularly with hikers and those who are prepared to forsake comfort for a truly life changing experience and enjoy some excellent cuisine and Fogo wine, cheese and coffee.

On the smaller islands accommodation is offered in guesthouses where you may often eat with the family.

The Cape Verde hotel ratings are not judged in the same way as EC hotel ratings. A Cape Verde 5 star rating would be the equivalent of an EC 4 star rating and so on. The hotel descriptions aim to give you a correct idea of the hotel facilities and comfort.

ISLAND OF BOA VISTA
Casa Orquidea | Sal Rei, Boa Vista Local Rating 3 Stars
A delightful, family-run and unpretentious boutique-style guesthouse by the ocean in the small town of Sal Rei. Seven very comfortable rooms are set around a courtyard with a bar and a small mature garden with tropical plants, fruit trees and an aviary. The owners are a charismatic Belgian husband (Gerald) and a Cape Verdean wife (Orquidea) who speak English, French and Portuguese, and you are assured of warm hospitality. There are restaurants and some bars in the town and the Estoril beach is within a 10 minutes walk. Casa Orquidea opened in early 2008.

5 Standard Rooms (2 twins and 3 doubles) are with shower, fridge, fan, flat screen TV and a large verandah with at least a side ocean view and furnished with sunbeds and a hammock.
2 double Superior Rooms are larger with full ocean view and are on the top floor.
Air-conditioning is available on request locally.

ISLAND OF FOGO
Hotel Xaguate / Sao Felipe, Fogo Local Rating 4 stars
This is a delightful and charming hotel in a peaceful location in the little town of Sao Felipe. The hotel enjoys magnificent views across the ocean to the island of Brava, and colourful gardens surround the swimming pool, where a cool drink can be enjoyed under the sunshades. There are some good restaurants nearby.

ISLAND OF MAIO
Vila do Maio is a sleepy little fishing port with not much happening, but there are some restaurants and bars in which to meet up with locals and other visitors, as well as a superb beach. Accommodation is offered in simple guesthouses and one small pension

ISLAND OF SAL
Hotel Morabeza | Sal Local Rating 4 stars
A popular hotel set by the splendid Santa Maria beach which most people would rate as the most pleasant in Cape Verde. The Morabeza was originally the private home of a Belgian family and over the years has developed into an excellent resort hotel, which is now run by Sophie, the grand daughter of the founders.
The famous Beach Club with its wooden deck is a favourite at lunchtime.
The range of excellent facilities and good service are testimony to the popularity of the hotel over many years.
The hotel was extensively refurbished during 2007 and 2008.

126 recently renovated and refurbished rooms and suites are air-conditioned with twin or double beds, power shower, mini-fridge (not stocked), fan, safe, satellite TV and a terrace with a garden or ocean view. Please note rooms vary in shape, size and location.
All Standard rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and a small child in a cot (third bed not available).
There are 3 Duplex Suites (DPX) with an ocean view, which comprise a downstairs bedroom with a double bed, and an open plan mezzanine floor which is reached by a staircase. Duplex rooms can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.
Junior Suites comprise a bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, and can accommodate up to 3 adults. Suites with a garden view are mostly with double beds and Suites with a side ocean view are all with twin beds.
There are 4 Family Suites on request, with garden view, 2 bedrooms and a living room, which accommodate up to 4 adults.
There are also 2 Master Suites with an ocean view, which comprise a twin bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a living room area. These suites accommodate 2 adults.

A large, resort-style hotel located in the diplomatic and embassy area of Praia and overlooking one of the town beaches.

The hotel has 211 large air-conditioned twin or double rooms with bath, safe, satellite TV and mini-fridge.
We recommend the superior rooms, which have a large furnished balcony overlooking the ocean.
Some rooms are inter-connecting.

Hotel Pestana Tropico | Praia, Santiago Local Rating 4 stars
This hotel is located on a small cliff overlooking the ocean in the exclusive embassy and diplomatic suburb of Praia. The hotel’s clientèle will usually include visiting dignitaries and businessmen and is not suitable for families. The capital’s main beach is within 300m and the city centre is within 4 minutes drive.
The restaurant is reputedly the best in Praia. There is also a very convivial circular bar and a large pool in the garden.

Quinta da Montanha | Santiago Local Rating 3 stars
Remote and escapist , this is an ideal small hotel for those wishing to spend a few days on the island of Santiago away from the hustle of the city. It is one of our favourites!
It is a spectacular, family-run rural retreat perched at 850m in the Rui Vaz mountains with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, Mount São Domingos (1394m) and of the distant island of Maio. It is a designated part of a working farm, 24km and about 30 minutes by road from Praia. The Quinta specialises in eco and agro tourism and it produces organic crops and fruit for use not only in the hotel kitchen but also for the local community. A stay here is a unique opportunity to sample local life, and Lindorfo and his staff offer a genuine, warm welcome and personal service .

All 29 rooms are individually decorated in various pastel shades and are either in the new West Wing (opened January 2008) or the refurbished Manor House. Twins or doubles have bath and hand shower, cable flat screen TV and furnished communal verandahs with mountain, valley and distant ocean views. 3 singles are with shower and patio and do not have the same view. 7 rooms in the Manor House have a walk-in shower instead of a bath.

This rural retreat is part of a farm set in a verdant valley and is reached by a spectacular road across the mountains. It is about 15 minutes drive from Ribeiro Grande and offers a good base for trekking and some wonderful views in peaceful surroundings.

40 rustic cottages with air-conditioning and heating, twin or double beds and a shower. Each room has access to a communal terrace.

ISLAND OF SAO NICOLAU

This delightful little pension is situated in the heart of the small town of Ribeira Brava, just off the main square, and is owned and managed by a local Cape Verdean family. P:ainted white throughout and with large plants adorning staircases and landings, the atmosphere is cool and tropical. There is a restaurant and bar.

ISLAND OF SAO VICENTE

Hotel Foya Branca | San Pedro, São Vicente Local Rating 4 stars
Foya Branca is a resort hotel located directly on the San Pedro sandy beach. There are well-tended gardens, two swimming pools and a children’s pool. This is a quality hotel which will appeal to couples and families. The courtesy bus to Mindelo enables guests to enjoy some of the city’s renowned music and nightlife.

All rooms, junior suites and family rooms are air-conditioned (in the bedroom only of junior suites) with twin or double beds and have a mini-bar, safe and Sky satellite TV. Villas are airy with ceiling fans but are not air-conditioned. All rooms in the new building are spacious and have a large walk-in shower. They comprise 45 Superior Rooms with a very large terrace and a pool and ocean view at a supplement, and 7 Standard Rooms with a small terrace but no view. 12 Junior Suites are the original rooms and have a separate air-conditioned bedroom and a lounge with a sofa, which can accommodate up to 2 children (not adults). Junior Suites also have a fan and a furnished terrace with views of the ocean through trees.
