Day 5
After breakfast transfer to the airport for the scheduled flight to Nosy Be (approximately 90 minutes)
Nosy Be is a large volcanic island located eight kilometres off the north west coast of Madagascar. It is the most well-known part of an extensive archipelago comprising several other resort islands, notably Nosy Komba, Nosy Tanikely, Nosy Mitsio and Nosy Sakatia; evidently “Nosy” translates into “island” and “Be” translates as “Big”; hence Nosy Be is the Big Island which is 300 square kilometres and has a population of about sixty thousand inhabitants.

Most people have associated Nosy Be with idyllic beach holidays but there is far more to it. There are some eleven volcanic crater lakes. The Lokobe Reserve is one of Madagascar’s five nature reserves and it is home to the World’s smallest frog and the smallest chameleon. Lokobe has the additional attraction of being accessed by pirogue—a dug out canoe. Apart from the aforementioned frog and chameleon which are likely to be elusive, on an hour’s trek in the reserve you are more likely to see lemur and boa constrictor, as well as some weird flora and fauna.

Many visitors also take in other islands; on Nosy Tanikely there is a marine reserve offering world class snorkelling and diving. On Nosy Komba there is a Lemur Sanctuary where you can get very close to them.
The best beaches of Andilana and Amporaha are on Nosy Be and on the private islands of Nosy Tsarabanjina and Nosy Iranja.
Nosy Be also offers many activities without having to leave the island. As with the market in the capital, photographic magazines have done a good job in getting the Artesans Market in the main town of Hell Ville well known and a visit here is often combined with a visit to the distillery. Otherwise there are opportunities for diving, snorkelling, cycling and exploring by boat.

Transfer on arrival to the four stars Amarina Hotel located in a secluded spot on the marvellous Amporaha Beach. The transfer time from Nosy Be airport is about two hours. It is ideal for honeymoons, romantics and those who are looking for a tropical retreat on a five star beach. (Ask us for alternative accommodation if you wish to be nearer town).
There are 58 air-conditioned double or twin bedded rooms with bath and shower, separate wc, safe, mini bar, DVD-CD player and veranda with an ocean view. The 42 spacious standard rooms are on the ground floor; 13 junior suites and 2 senior suites are on the first floor. There is also a family room with 2 bedrooms.
The facilities include the Restaurant “Canelle & Paprika” which offers table d’hote and a la carte dining. The bar is by the pool and has views of the lagoon. Canoes, pedalos and bikes for hire. Small gym. Excursions desk. Visa cards are accepted

Day 6
At leisure on Nosy Be
