Rediscovered ........A World of Wonders!
Zimbabwe, (formerly Southern Rhodesia, a British Crown Colony ) is a landlocked country located on a high plateau in the southern part of the continent of Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It is bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the southwest, Zambia to the northwest, Mozambique to the east and Namibia to the Caprivi Strip.
Victoria Falls, undisputedly one of the seven wonders of the Natural World; beautiful Lake Kariba, 280 km. long with enduring islands, petrified forests and a game-patrolled shoreline edged by gentle hills; Great Zimbabwe and some of the most amazing ruins in Sub Saharan Africa; the mighty Zambezi, the most forceful of African rivers, carves its way from Angola and Namibia through Zimbabwe to the Atlantic; spectacular landscapes, teeming with a rich array of wildlife and flora; nearly fifteen per cent of the land is given to wildlife habitat and protection. It is a truly stunning and fascinating land settled by some of the most pleasant and welcoming people you will ever find.
Then there is the climate. Because of its location in sub tropical Africa and an altitude almost entirely over 300m (1,000 feet), it is considered the most pleasant climate on Earth, being warm, sunny and generally dry, with very little humidity. The Eastern Highlands area is considered almost perfect! With an abundance of natural water from lakes and rivers and such a climate, agriculture thrives like nowhere else.
Finally, forget the images which have been forged by some of the world’s media. Of course, Zimbabwe has had its well-documented economic and political problems in recent years. But visit Zimbabwe today and you will find controlled investment, economic recovery, a stable currency , excellent roads, well-stocked shops, happy and determined people and a feeling of optimism and a return to prosperity. This “new” and rediscovered Zimbabwe is as young as tomorrow; it is almost as if there is a new tourism destination to visit in Africa. Talk to people who have been there since the unified government was elected in February 2009; not to people who think they have been there because they have remembered things they have read quite a while ago!
Zimbabwe is the Land of Wonders, offering an incredibly rich and diverse range of tours, activities and scenery.
